OCIBAR, S.A.’s activity is dedicated to the administration of moorings
in the following ports situated in the Balearic Islands: Port Adriano and

The Management of OCIBAR, S.A. assumes as a priority, the continuous improvement
in the environmental behaviour of the activities carried out in the ports
that it administrates.
Its Environmental Policy is specified on the following principles:

System that entails the periodical evaluation of the environmental aspects
of the processes and services it renders.
- To establish environmental aims consistent with this Environmental Policy
and with Nature and the environmental impacts that its activity generates.
- To adopt the prevention and reduction of the typical environmental impacts
of its activity (such as pollution due to spillage in the marine environment,
the disposal of boat oil waste, etc) as part of our daily work, together
with the improvement of the use of natural resources (water, electricity…).
- To observe the binding environmental laws and regulations, implanting
the necessary measures.
- To favour the awareness of our staff, clients, suppliers and other collaborators
in the observation of the principles included in this Environmental Policy,
promoting the training and information on all levels, for the establishment
of good environmental practices.

GOOD ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES FOR BOAT & NAUTICAL FACILITY USERS
ENVIRONMENTAL RECOMMENDATIONS
OCIBAR, S.A., concession holder of Sport Harbour Port Adriano, in El Toro
(Majorca), and also of Ibiza Magna, the Contramuelle de Poniente in the Port
of Ibiza, in accordance with its concern for the environment, and according
to Regulation ISO 14001, offers you some recommendations to promote its protection.
We must be aware that any interaction on the environment affects its future
evolution. In the case of port and boat waste, they affect the marine environment
as much as the atmospheric and terrestrial environment. Therefore, it’s
necessary for all users to collaborate, as the sum of individual efforts will
contribute to the global result, as much in the recovery as in the environment
being sustainable.
Our compromise to preserve and protect the sea and coast environment is founded
on:
- Improving the use of water and electricity.
- Preventing pollution.
- Implementing and promoting selective waste collection.
- Controlling and reducing air and noise pollution.
- Establishing emergency plans.
- Updating the legal regulations register.
- Training staff regarding the environment and labour health.
- Encouraging users and suppliers to adopt positive environmental practices.
Waste management
The correct disposal of waste generated by the use of boats is basic. As follows, we suggest the adequate way to do this depending on the type of waste:
- Common waste:
- organic waste, metal or plastic containers, glass, paper and cardboard.
- Separate waste on board. To do this, it’s recommendable to use
different coloured bags or separate containers.
- Do not tip anything overboard or on to the coast.
- Use containers available for each type of waste, and if in doubt
consult port staff.
- Hazardous waste:
- Hydrocarbon, paint, solvent, batteries, oil, filters, flares, medicine,
and, in general, aggressive chemical products or anything impregnated
with said products, as both those generated during navigation and on
land.
- Do not tip anything overboard or on to the coast.
- Use containers available for each type of waste, and if in doubt
consult port staff.
- Check your boat regularly for the existence of fuel or oil leaks.
- Bilge waste:
- Never empty bilge water into the sea or on to the coast.
- In the port there is a machine for this purpose at your disposal.
- Check your boat regularly for the existence of bilge water leaks.
- Sewage waters:
- According to the regulations currently in force, boats must have a
deposit for sewage waters, that must not be emptied into the sea or
on to the coast.
- In Port Adriano there is a machine for the emptying of said deposits.
In Ibiza Magna there is a connection for boats to the main sewer system.
- We recommend restriction of the use of water and to always use biodegradable
detergents for sewage waters that are not from WC and go directly into
the sea.
- Check your boat regularly for the existence of sewage water leaks.
Boat cleaning
When cleaning boats, a series of negative effects are produced, that we must try to minimise:
- Use the minimum water possible. It’s important that the hose nozzle
is a pistol type.
- Use biodegradable cleaning products in small amounts or only the necessary
amount.
- Reduce boat cleaning in the water, running the boat aground for this
purpose when possible.
- Make sure to sign up responsible companies for the maintenance of your
boat, and that they obey environmental regulations currently in force.
Impact of boats on sea fauna and flora
There are many aspects of the use of boats that affect the environment negatively, as much the sea fauna as the flora. We detail a few recommendations to reduce them:
- When possible, use anchoring buoys, instead of anchoring freely. In any
case, when using the anchor, try not to do this sensitive zones such as
seaweed meadows.
- Respect sea flora and fauna whilst bathing or diving.
- When practising nautical sports and fishing, obey the regulations strictly.
- Avoid unnecessary noises that may disturb the fauna. Do not sail near
bird nesting areas.
- not tip anything overboard or on to the coast.
Accidental spillage of hazardous products
The impact of hazardous substance in the marine environment is one of the most important aspects to control due to its seriousness. We must avoid this happening, which is possible by taking a few precautions:
- Check your boat regularly for the existence of fuel or oil leaks.
- When filling your fuel tank, pay attention to avoid the tank overflowing
or the hose falling out of the tank. Protect the area around the tank opening
with absorbent paper or cloths, to avoid splashing or spilling fuel into
the sea. These cloths or papers must be correctly disposed of.
- If a spillage happens inside the port, contact the Port Management immediately.
If it happens outside the port, call the emergency number 112.
Water and energy saving
The collaboration of all users is very important to achieve reduction in the use of water and energy, both last electricity and fuel.
- Use only the necessary water and don’t waste it.
- Use "pistol" type hose nozzles and watch out for possible leaks
in the hose or in your boat’s water tank.
- the use of heating and air-conditioning aboard.
- Install alternative energy sources (solar, wind power, etc).
- Keep your boat’s hull clean and ensure periodic engine services
- Reduce speed during navigation and manoeuvres.
Air and noise pollution
The boat engines produce an emission of pollutant gas and noise. To reduce
the effect we advise you to:
- Reduce boat speed.
- Install preferably four-stroke engines, they are more expensive but they
provide more power and consume less fuel.
- Turn off engines when not navigating.
- Check engines regularly to ensure correct operation.
All of theses practices will bring you and the environment many benefits:
Reduction in costs of fuel, water and electricity.
Marine and land environment quality, and therefore quality of life.
Tourism conservation.
Marine flora and fauna conservation.
Air quality and less impact on the ozone layer.
